Patriarch John X meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Holy See

Patriarch John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek Orthodox, met with Cardinal Brolin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Holy See, and was accompanied on the visit by Archbishop Silouan Moussi (Mount Lebanon) and Archimandrite Parthenius Latti at the Apostolic Palace in the Vatican.
His Beatitude emphasized the role of the Holy See in exerting pressure for the formation of a Lebanese government as soon as possible. His Beatitude the Cardinal also portrayed the suffering of the Lebanese citizen due to the deteriorating financial and economic conditions. He also stressed that the policy of sanctions adopted towards Lebanon and Syria affects primarily the people who are suffering for their livelihood, hence His Beatitude called for intensifying efforts to reach the lifting of the economic blockade.
The meeting also touched on the case of the Archbishops of Aleppo, Boulos Yazigi and Yohanna Ibrahim, and the need to close this file. For his part, Cardinal Brolin affirmed that the Holy See is stressing with all its might to save Lebanon, consolidate the Christian presence in the East and to bring peace to the region.
