The Holy Antiochian Synod held its concluding sessions for the fifth and final day at the Monastery of Our Lady of Balamand. The first session began with a prayer offered by the Fathers of the Holy Synod, asking that the Holy Spirit inspire them to do what is best for the Church.
The bishops of the dioceses continued to present the conditions of their dioceses and the pastoral reality within them, including both achievements and challenges. These challenges vary according to the diversity of the dioceses’ locations, the laws of the countries in which they are located, and the surrounding circumstances. Their Eminences also spoke about all the dioceses’ efforts to care for their parishioners and strengthen relations with the churches and local authorities within their jurisdiction. After listening to the dioceses’ reports, the fathers emphasized the need for the Church to continue to carry its banner and spread its message where God has placed it to serve the faithful.
The draft amendment to the Personal Status Law was discussed, and it will be studied and finalized after receiving final comments.
The fathers also discussed the ecclesiastical situation in the Alexandretta District and examined the pastoral situation there to determine the best possible ways to serve our parishioners there.
The bishopric’s eligibility list for the year 2025 was also amended and approved.
The Holy Synod Fathers concluded the work of this synodal session, praying for all their children and wishing them health and long life. They affirmed their continued support, alongside the faithful, for His Beatitude’s national and ecclesiastical positions.
