The Start of the works of the executive committee of the Middle East Council of Churches under the chairmanship of His Beatitude John X the patriarch of Antioch and all the East, on behalf of the Orthodox Family.

Beirut January 16 – 2017

                     The works of the executive committee of the Middle East Council of Churches has started in the halls of the National Evangelical Church in Beirut.

                     His Beatitude John X presided the Orthodox Family with the participation of his Beatitude Ephraim II who presided the Eastern Churches, with bishops, priests and members of the other families.

                    After the prayer, the discussions, and the statement read by the general secretary father Michel Jalakh, and during the program of the first day, the participants visited Mr. Michel Aoun the President of the Republic in the presidential palace.

                    His Excellency the President of the Republic expressed the importance of the Christian role in the East, and of the message of the Middle East Council of Churches in preserving and deepening the Christian presence in the East.

                    In the end of the meeting, the President of the Republic remitted to His Beatitude John X an ancient copy of the Gospel written in Greek, that the Lebanese Army had confiscated from one of the terrorist organizations which admitted stealing it from St. Tekla’s convent in Maaloula- Syria.
