A Seminar Entitled "Citizenship and Civil Society"

 

The Patriarchate of Antioch and All the East held the first discussion seminar entitled "Citizenship and Civil Society" with a slogan "Cultural and Awareness Meetings to Build a New Syria" in the hall of St. George Church - Tijara in Damascus.

The discussion focused on the definition of citizenship, its historical origins, its meaning, and its implications for the new Syrian situation.

The seminar also touched on the subject of the Syrian people's acceptance of the idea of citizenship and the new administration's readiness to deal with this concept.

It was emphasized that Christians are citizens and an integral part of Syrian society.

The discussions also contributed to shedding light on various political concepts such as the constitution, elections, and politics in general. The call for positive participation in the public life, political and social activity and dialogue, openness to all components of the Syrian people, and working positively towards a common future for all were tackled as well.
