His Beatiude John X, Greek Orthodox of Antioch and All the East received His Excellency Ziad al-Makari, Minister of Information in the caretaker government, at the patriarchal residency in Balamand. The meeting was attended by the Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Georges Yaacoub, Abbot of Our Lady of Balamand Patriarchal Monastery. His Beatitude discussed the role of the media and its regulatory body at a time when social media and digital applications have become available to everyone. He emphasized the importance of media awareness and the media's role as a conveyer of constructive discourse. He also presented the Church's media efforts to use media in evangelism and ecclesiastical work. On his part, Minister al-Makari addressed the leading role of the Orthodox Church in Lebanon and the East, emphasizing Lebanon's role as a platform for free speech. The meeting also addressed the general situation and current issues.
