Born in Damascus, Syria, in 1966, he holds a Bachelor of Theology in 1996, a Master of Theology in 2000, and a PhD in Theology in 2011 from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He was ordained a priest in 2000, and served the Holy Cross Church in Damascus. He was ordained a Bishop in 2011 and became a Patriarchal Assistant until his election as Metropolitan in the year 2013.
