His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, participated in the Ramadan iftar that was held on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan in Antakya, at the invitation of the Mayor of Beyoğlu – Istanbul, Mr. Haydar Ali Yildiz. Were present Turkish parliament head Mustafa Şentop, His Beatitude Archbishop of Constantinople and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I, the Armenian Orthodox Patriarch in Istanbul Sahak Mashalian Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Lutfi Savaş, in addition to Christian and Islamic religious authorities.
The iftar included speeches that stressed the love and brotherhood which unite all religions in Antioch and all the regions in this country.
The participants hoped that Antioch would return to its vibrancy, coexistence, love and encounter, promising to work on the reconstruction of churches, especially the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.
