His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, received Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, Syriac Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and the Supreme Head of the universal Syriac Orthodox Church, at the Patriarchal Headquarters in Damascus. The meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the deep relationship between the two churches and the importance of each of their roles in witnessing to Christ in the world, especially in the East, amidst the challenges and issues facing the world. The meeting also discussed the general situation in the Middle East, where its people bear the toll of war, displacement, and economic blockade. Additionally, the meeting addressed the issue of the abducted Metropolitans of Aleppo, Paul Yazigi and Youhanna Ibrahim, as well as the situation in Gaza, emphasizing the urgent need to halt the unjust war against the Palestinian people.
