A blessed visit Announces the return of Church communion between the Patriarchates of Antioch and Jerusalem
Amman, November 9, 2023

His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, charged their Eminences Athanasios, Metropolitan of Latakia and its Dependencies, and Ephrem, Metropolitan of Aleppo and Alexandretta and their Dependencies of visiting Amman, the capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. They were to bring to the Church of Jerusalem a message of fraternal love and the return of ecclesiastical communion between the Patriarchate of Antioch and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
His Eminence Bishop Christoforos received the two visiting hierarchs at the Archbishopric in Amman, welcoming their honorable presence. He expressed his personal joy and the relief and joy of His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City, Patriarch of the Jerusalem Church and its Holy Synod, regarding the decision of the Synod of Antioch.
The two hierarchs conveyed, through HE Bishop Christophoros, the love of His Beatitude Patriarch John, of the fathers of the Holy Council of Antioch, and of the people of the Church of Antioch to His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilus and the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
In turn, His Eminence Bishop Christoforos, in the name of Patriarch Theophilos, conveyed the sincere fraternal feelings to His Beatitude Patriarch John and to the Holy Synod of Antioch, in appreciation of this blessed act.
Bishop Christoforos also highlighted the importance of returning to ecclesiastical communion and perpetuating ties of pure Christian love for the good of the Orthodox family in the two sister patriarchates, as well as the positive impact on the Orthodox and Christian world in the East and over the world.
At the end of the meeting, as an effective expression of sincere fraternal love and solidarity, and in confirmation of the national and humanitarian position of the Church of Antioch in supporting the afflicted brothers in Gaza, the Antiochian delegation handed over to Bishop Christoforos a financial donation provided to them by the Church of Antioch.
