His Beatitude John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East flew into Oman-Muscat this morning, on a pastoral visit for few days upon the invitation of His Eminence, Metropolitan Ghattas Hazim (Baghdad, Kuwait and Dependencies), to participate in the inauguration and consecration of Saint Arethas of Najran Church in Muscat.
His Beatitude is accompanied by a delegation, including His Eminence, Metropolitan Efraim Maalouli, (Aleppo, Alexandretta and Dependencies), His Grace Bishop Arsanios Dahdal, Abbot of the Patriarchal Monastery of St. George Al-Homeyra, Rev. Archimandrite Parthenios Al Lati, Rev. Archimandrite Gerasimos Kabbas, Deacon Hilarion Bshara and the patriarchal media crew.
They were received by Metropolitan Ghattas (Hazim), His Excellency Syrian Ambassador in Oman Mr. Idris Mia, Mr. Ahmad Al Bahri - Director of the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious affairs, Rev. Archimandrite Dimitri Mansour and a number of parishioners along with the protocol crew at the airport.
Upon his arrival to the VIP lounge, His Beatitude assured that: "The Sultanate of Oman is a country of tolerance, where everyone lives in harmony, peace, and respect, and where everyone feels at home surrounded by his family".
